Amazonico is STUNNING!
You get the wow factor as soon as you walk in.
The amazonian jungle theme contrasts beautifully with the luxurious velvet drapes and glass bowls throughout.
I came here with my mates for our usual Christmas get together and was quite impressed!
There is a very large selection of cocktails and wines as you would expect in Mayfair, we went for a nice red with dinner.
The food here like many others in the area is based on sharing which I absolutely love. Cedric explained the menu’s and recommendations very well and was extremely attentive.
Shared a few starters, I really enjoyed the sushi and the Calamar – expected more oomph from the Tequeños but they were still tasty.
For mains the skirt steak and the lamb chops were first choice and the portion was a fair size for the three of us. The potatoes and broccoli were nice sides but I really enjoyed the Smoked hispi cabbage with mirasol chili, almond & peanut sauce. #yum
One thing I didn’t like was the feeling of being rushed, the plate waiters had eagle eyes ready to take your plate as soon as you put your cutlery down. That was actually quite off putting for me.
Overall, it’s a very enjoyable restaurant, Amazonico has a beautiful fine dining ambience with live music and is great for an evening out with friends, however I would expect the quality to be better with the prices being similar to Michelin star prices and I really didn’t like the whole plate clearing system.
I would probably go back for cocktails and would definitely recommend the lamb chops and the hispi cabbage if you are looking to eat here.
Stay safe, eat well and take care,
