CHECK OUT STORMZY’S NEW LIVE LOUNGE PERFORMANCE
The Grime MC is the latest star to take part in Live Lounge Month
In 2018, Stormzy’s debut album Gang Signs & Prayer took home the prize for British Album of the Year and Stormzy was crowned British Male Solo Artist of the Year at the annual Brit Awards. Riding the wave of acclaim, he was announced as one of the headliners at 2019’s Glastonbury Festival. This year, he also scored his first number one single in the U.K. with “Vossi Bop.” More recently Stormzy was a guest and nominee at The Annual Q Awards ceremony which was held on Wednesday at the Roundhouse in Camden, north London, with artists including Anna Calvi, Dizzee Rascal, Little Simz, Pale Waves and Madness also honoured.
Stormzy has covered Beyoncé as part of his latest performance in the BBC Radio1 Live Lounge.
The Grime MC stopped by the radio station as part of Live Lounge Month, where he performed a special three-song set.
After delivering versions of his singles ‘Crown’ and ‘Sound Of Skeng’, he shifts into a cover of Beyoncé’s ‘Brown Skin Girl’, featuring vocals from singer Stalk Ashley.
Stormzy added his own verse into the song, the original of which featured on the ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ album.
“Young Simba and his lioness/Young Simba got his mind fresh,” he rapped at one point, later adding: “I guess I gotta tell you couple things/They ain’t always gonna love to see you win.”
You can listen to his full set in the Live Lounge here.
