Hackney Empire Bar

So I first met up with Shivz back in 2017 and again in 2018 to talk about his album ‘STYLE & FINESSE’ which is one of my favourite UK Rap projects to date. For the purpose of self preservation and to highlight areas of growth and progress you can check out our last interview here.

Shivz was at the door welcoming guests and it was great to see his family and friends helping out for the event. Hackney Empire Bar seemed a great fit for the rappers intimate show, with dimmed lights and arty decor.

I ordered myself a G&T and it came with a sprig of rosemary that really tingled my tongue (sprig of rosemary every time please?) I sat down ready to take some notes and realised I didn’t have a pen… Damn.

Luckily Shivz sister was on hand to help me out with that!

Kicking off the show was up and coming Open Mic night winner Snapz TallOne who spat bars over a 140 beat that sampled Usher’s ‘My Boo’ which I proper liked!

Snaps was then joined by City Boy Tips and HoodzTBE for a performance of their jumpy track ‘Alleyway’

Next up was smooth rapper Reckz who showed his lyrical talent with a track that had heads nodding and shoulders vibing.

Real Rome Roma took stage next, in an on trend Fila jumper he brang us trappy rap with memorable hooks and massive confidence!

The show really identified some hot talent and allowed them to express their individuality and styles in a comfortable environment with an intimate audience.

There were a few other rappers/artists that I didn’t manage to catch but you should definitely speak with Shivz if anyone reading this wants to progress or build confidence  in live performances and gain stage presence experience.

one of the artist’s I had been hoping to see was Razor. Honestly he was one of a few artists names I had recognised on the flyer. Staying consistent and true to his self Razor gave a hyped performance of some of his new music which correct me if I’m wrong had some sick 80’s samples on his beats in line with his aggressive flow. He also gave the audience a treat to his Filthy Gears produced track ‘Easy’!

The night went on and drinks got drank, Rapid (Ruff Sqwad) took over Dj’ing and Shivz took to the stage to give us a medley of his tracks from album ‘Style & Finesse’ including wavy tunes ‘Ocho Rios‘ then ‘Miami’ followed by ‘Wine Pon Me’ and ‘Slush Puppy’!

It was a great night of music and thank you to everyone I spoke with!
