A Chat With Blanco – Return Of Bourne #HarlemSpartans
Fresh home Blanco brings fans the follow up to his ‘Jason Bourne’ track which accumulated over 804,000 views via the Harlem Spartans YouTube channel. After high demand from fans, Blanco decided to gift them on Boxing Day by making ‘Return Of Bourne’ his first official solo release since coming home and enlisted the help of experienced video director Elmino to capture his vision.
With Blanco fresh out of jail and the release of his first track in over a year I was keen to get to know a bit more about him as a person. Working with my girl Sophie from Music in Motion PR, she had me booked in to meet Blanco from Harlem Spartans for a little chat at the Pink Ship office.

Sammi: ‘Return of Bourne’ just dropped and I listened to it quite a few times, to me it sounds like a bit of a statement, you just come out of jail, Return of Bourne, 2019 your coming back, was that kind of what you was going for?
Blanco: Kind of in a way, I wanted to let people know that I’m back.
Sammi: Have you got a plan for 2019?
Blanco: I’ve got an ep coming out in a couple months and a couple more singles to be released with a couple features but I can’t tell you the month.
Sammi: I just wondered how long you were inside for?
Blanco: I was in jail for a year and 9 months…
Sammi: During that time did you ever feel like you wanted to give up?
Blanco: Yeah, well, before, obviously when I was on remand it kind of felt long because I didn’t know what sentence I was getting, yeah it was long.
Sammi: What were the things that you thought about, that made you carry on and keep going?
Blanco: Kind of like everyone around me, telling me not to give up yet, had a lot of support and encouragement.
Sammi: What about your features, you said you have a couple coming, can you tell me anything about that?
Blanco: I can’t really tell you who there with, not yet, its too early but a couple good features coming up!
Sammi: Is there anyone specific that you haven’t featured that you would like to collaborate with in the future?
Blanco: I like J Hus, NBA Young Boy – an American artist, Lil Durk who’s American as well and I kinda like Not3s as well yeah.
Sammi: What’s your favourite Not3s song then?
Blanco: My favourite Not3s song mmm… My favourite one is ‘Just Fine’ I really like that one.
Sammi: What is next for you and Harlem Spartans? Are you branching off and doing your own thing or are you still collectively making music together?
Blanco: Were still collectively working together but I’m just gonna release a couple songs myself, its not really like a branching thing though.
Sammi: What is your favourite clothing brand?
Blanco: It’s gotta be Nike, they make the best tracksuits, I like Adidas but Nike just does it for me.

Sammi: What is your favourite dinner?
Blanco: Favourite dinner… See I like food, theres too much to choose from but I’m gonna have to say Lasagna.
Sammi: What’s your favourite film?
Blanco: Favourite film, hmmmm… My favourite film franchise… It’s gotta be… Mission Impossible.
Sammi: Oh mission impossible, I thought you was gonna say ‘Bourne’? LOL
Blanco: I was thinking that but if I had to choose between the two its ‘Mission Impossible!’
