Into The dirt is a one off exclusive GRIME zine that has been inspired by punk fanzines from the 70’s. The Zine is majorly focused on the resurfacing of the new generation of Grime, showcasing some of grime’s pioneers, DJ’s, Radio stations, photographers and some incredibly artistic and passionate Mc’s/Artists. There have been many contributors and collaborations in this ‘one off’ Zine that makes it what it is.
Into the dirts persona stems around a nostalgic, placid, black and white theme, just like those found in the 70’s punkzines like Sniffin Glue‘ created by Mark perry, and Search & Destroy created by William Burroughs.

Undergound is located at Berwick street, where it is home to a lot of textile makers, and a trendy little food market.
SO.. Myself and Mollie were welcomed into the White Rabbit, Shoreditch by Becky Deng, given a cool little badge of our choice to wear as a mark of ‘being in the place.’
We walked through into the ‘printing room’ where we were offered drinks (Thursday being the new Friday, how could I refuse?) and purchased our copies of ITD. Walking into the main event area there was a simple typewriter and a note. The typewriter that was used, anyone could have a go… So our input was ‘W A S T E M A N’. 
As soon as I walked in my ears had pinged, they had their own alertness. I have a really low level of hearing in my left ear but the beat I heard was crystal clear… Ruff Sqwad – Pied Piper. Radar Radio were managing the music, Dj Argue if i’m correct, (if i’m not please do correct me) was playing a lot of old skool grime beats which to me created a beautiful atmosphere for old skool grime fans, new generation grime fans and people that just like to hear anything a bit different.
Simon Wheatley’s photography had been displayed across a large wall, which I recognised immediately, although there were some unseen and unpublished photos that a grime fan could really appreciate, Simon Wheatley has recently been working with The Square who are a circle of rappers/mc’s/artists/dj and producers and some of the work they have been doing were showcased here in images also.
Throughout the evening there was such a diverse group of people enjoying themselves, chillin, billin, networking and working. A comfortable environment, everyone seemed to be at ease, appreciating all the different kinds of artistry that had come together to make this Zine and put on this event.
You may have noticed that my featured image on this specific blog post is ‘VISION CREW‘ I had no idea who they were, but upon first impressions I knew they were a group of friends and some of them were mc’s. Well that was a foolish understatement… Kind of embarrassing, thank god they were only thoughts. VISION CREW livened everyone the fuck up. As soon as they took the mic and I caught on to their different flows I was like WOW. Am I a dickhead? I heard and felt the raw passion exuding from them that excites me about grime so much.

On the night there was also a set from General Courts on the decks and Big Zuu on the mic in beast mode. It felt like Grime in its natural state… dingy, dark room, beats and riddims just ongoing, mc’s on the mic, spitting like its the worst day, tracksuits, and a small crowd bopping their heads in appreciation and respect for the lyricism. (also the occasional ‘brap’ and gunfingers.)
